There’s nothing wrong with eating cookies, but there is something wrong with hiding it

If you’re part of the 1 in 3 women who snack in secret, KNOW THIS – There’s nothing wrong with eating cookies, but there is something wrong with hiding it.

The more we stay tied to the belief that certain foods are off limits, the more tempted we’ll be to eat them, and the more guilt we’ll feel when we do.

So if you’re sneaking snacks by grabbing quick handfuls of M&M’s in between meals and downing them when no one’s looking, or waiting for your partner to go to sleep before raiding the fridge, try this instead:

Choose what you want to have. Fill a small bowl. Sit down without distractions or in front of your loved ones. Eat slowly. Enjoy it.

Mechanically this slows you down and allows you to be mindful. Physiologically, it overrides the programming around shame, helping you realize you’re not doing anything wrong.

The kid in this photo below is super cute, but you know what’s not cute? Feeling ashamed for eating anything deemed “unhealthy.”
