The Lessons Learned From My 1st Trip In Over A Year

The Lessons Learned From My 1st Trip In Over A Year
A few weeks ago was the first time in over a year that I’ve been away from my one bedroom apartment in New York—the one I’ve gotten so used to living and working in over this year.
One part of me was excited for change of scenery; another part of me feared I’d lose the momentum I’ve built in my business since the beginning of 2020.
Ironically, as the world went on pause, I sped up—somehow becoming busier than ever (I know I’m not alone in this!).
You see, we create what’s familiar, because it helps us feel safe.
And when everything felt so uncertain, I poured my energy into my work, filling all my time with tasks and meetings, always needing something to do.
This was great at first, but then the pressure built and any time I WASN’T doing something, the anxiety grew.
I felt I needed this time away to create some space and shift my perspective, but I didn’t realize how badly until I got here.
Looking back, I was on the verge of burn out—a place I preach my clients NEVER to get to.
Here’s what I’ve reflected on so far:
99% of the things you think you NEED to do can wait and saving them for another day doesn’t mean you’ll fall behind. Rather than getting stuck in the overwhelm of your never ending to-do list, select the things that fall in the 1% and accomplish those first.
Switch up your routine every now and again. When we get caught up in the mundane, day-to-day, we become tired and ungrateful. We start to focus on the little things in a negative way like our tiny work space, rather than being grateful to have a space and avoid a dreadful commute.
Whatever’s stressing you now won’t matter 10 years from now. Picture yourself with a successful future looking back on the time you worried about it. That shift in perspective will remind you not to sweat the small stuff.
If you can resonate with any of what I said above, you too may be approaching burn out. If so, create some space, take a breath, allow yourself to take a break, and reflect on the things you’re grateful for. I promise you’ll feel better in no time
With Lots Of Healthy Love,
Toni
