When Bruce and I first met, we never intended to get into a relationship—it was just supposed to be fun.
We came from completely different backgrounds and upbringings.
Everything from our socioeconomic status, culture, race, religion and more, barely resembled one another—the odds were stacked against us.
But something kept drawing us towards one another.
The connection felt genuine and the more time we spent together, the more we realized we had more in common than we thought.
After 6 months of dating casually, we had no interest in seeing other people and decided to give a real relationship a shot.
Since then there’s been ups and downs.
We’ve had to learn how to see from the others perspective, compromise, and agree to disagree at times.
But all in all, the good continues to outweighs the bad, and we still agree on the most important thing—we’re deeply in love with one another.
We’ve learned to appreciate the tough moments, because getting through them let’s us know how strong of a team we actually are.
So the next time you scroll and see a photo of an authentically happy couple on social know they’ve worked hard in between each shot.
If you’re in a rocky season with your partner and are wondering if putting in more effort is worth it, know this:
As long as you both see eye-to-eye on the future you want, it will be.
With Lots Of Healthy Love,
Toni
