Are You Living A Goal-Based Life Or A Value-Based Life?

There are two ways you can choose to live your life
You can either live a goal-based life or a value-based life.
Goal-based sounds like, “I’ll be happy when… (insert challenge you may never achieve here)”.
Examples include weight loss, getting into a relationship, or making a certain amount of money.
They’re concrete and the why behind them are often driven by ego or having something to prove.
Nothing will ever feel enough if you don’t appreciate what you have.
In a recent article I read, Ryan continues to say, “We all think external accomplishment is going to change everything, but it never seems to. It doesn’t change how you see yourself. It doesn’t change how you go through the world. It doesn’t change what you feel like when you wake up in the morning.”
^^ this hit me.
If you choose to live a goal-based life, you’ll never feel fulfilled. You’ll constantly postpone your own happiness, never living in the present, because you’ll always be chasing something.
But if you choose to live a value-based life and say things to yourself like, “I want to be someone who…”
– Takes cares care of their body, regardless of their size
– Appreciates all of their qualities, whether they’re in a relationship or not
You’ll feel good regardless of the outcome. You’ll live more in the moment and bettering yourself as a person, rather than dumping your worth into whether or not you met said goal.
I’m choosing to live a value-based life.
With Lots Of Healthy Love,
Toni
